Command of a Task Group
« on: January 08, 2011, 11:29:53 AM »
Again  I watched a Task Group controlled by a ranking player, take that CV out of action, effectively take the CV out of the game.  The player conning the group was off elsewhere  mostly sitting in a tower not responding to vox or text requests.  At the time our only other CV was conned by a ranking player that was involved in dog fighting on the other side of the map and have no real vested interest in keeping the CV safe.

My wish is that if a player takes command of a CV group that player must man a position on one of the ships in the group.  That player loses command as soon as they leave the ship.

Nothing else about the task group control would change,   If no one has command , then any one can change the course of the group, exactly as it now operates.

+1   who ever has command must be either in the ships tower or a gun posstion for that task group.  once they leave either position then the loose command.

Or in a plane/boat/LTV from that CV. Either way. One should be at least doing something from a CV to be allowed to control it

I've seen too many "ranking" players doing too many horribly stupid things too often with CVs to say that it is a good idea that by virtue of rank alone should determine who gets preference.

traveler, tec. please do offer a better solution to the hiding of the cv problem.  when I know a country is hiding one of our cvs, I will find it and sink it, one way or another. not like the're using it anyway.  as to my character, it's not defined by a game.

Correct, a game does not define your character.

But rather, how you play a game is reflective of your character.

so which flaws in my character are represented by me trying to stop those that hide cvs in a game?  and as for hiding cvs, is that an indication of their character? and isn't being judgmental an indication of your character?  :bolt:

Reading my comment again, all I see is that I supported your statement that a game does not define your character.  If you feel offended by that, perhaps you need to search within your own psyche as to why you feel so defensive about the comment.

First my OP has to do with how Command of a task group is assumed and held in the game.  The wish is that someone assuming command have to be on a ship and not flying about on the other side of the map or in a tower AFK.  As to my character comment, well, I disagree with you .  I think that everything a person does in life defines their character, even the way they play a game.
