Took the tour when I was a kid.

Went back a couple years ago and they have it indoors. Very cool setup. Didn't take the tour because the wait was too long and had lunch plans that couldn't be changed.  :cry

it takes a LONG time to code gaming correctly. and putting subs into the game they would need to revamp water, allow individual DDs, convoys, alot of stuff would need to be added for submarines

First off you have the problem of the water, being able to submerge, and come back up without causing problems.

Second Submarine operations took forever compared to Airplane flights. Even the longest bomber mission was seldom over the 8 hour mark.

Typical German sorties to North America or the North Sea would last for 2 months.

Boxed sub games use time compression to get around this, thats impossible to do for an online game.

Then you have the difficulty of figuring out exactly how do you coad sonar so that subs and destroyers can use it?

Then you have issues with things like Depth Charges, that are shot through the air, hit the water, and settle to a predetermined depth before exploding.  Torpedo's are pretty much done, you'd just have to make sure that if you fired one it would come up to running depth if it was fired from a location deeper than that.

Your talking loads and loads of coad for something that very few would be willing to spend 6 hours or more getting into position for a single attack.

Submarine sortie AAR

Day one

Departed port headed Northwest toward carrier

Day two

Reached sector two, surfaced, and recharged batteries

Day three

Reached sector three, surfaced, and recharged batteries

Day four

Found little brother on computer AH turned off.

Day five

Departed port headed to shipping lanes

Day six

Reached sector two, surfaced, and recharged batteries.  Got disco'd  :furious

I'm not against any addition to the game but considering the attention span of the average player, including myself, is about the same as a hyperactive flea I just don't see anyone having the patience to put in the time to run a successful real time submarine op.
