webcam mic
« on: January 13, 2011, 10:10:09 PM »
Ok, I did a search, and nothing useful came up.

After a while away from AH I tested out the arenas this evening and noticed a little issue when I tried to use my webcam's mic for voice.  After releasing the transmit button, there's a little stutter, i.e. the game momentarily halts for a split second.  I set the sound recording quality to the lowest setting, 16khz, but that made no difference.  When I tested it out by transmitting to myself, the playback would sometimes repeat a chunk of the transmission.

The webcam is just a simple logitech C260, but the voice recording works fine with skype and other applications.  Are there issues between webcam mics and AH, or any ideas about what might be the issue?  Thanks.

How does the mic connect to your computer? I think the reason for the stutter is right there...

It's USB.

My first headset that my kid destroyed was a logitech USB, and it worked great.  I have another headset with the standard jacks and the mic has never been sensitive enough.

perhaps the mic is picking up some ambient room noise.
