b29 questions.

hey guys, ive been wondering, why did the 8th air force, and other air forces in eruope not adopt the b29? did it have forseeable problems operating in the ETO or did the british just completly reject it? what did the british think about it?.

The B-17 and B-24s where doing significant amount to damage to the Germans.  And the PTO needed a long range bomber that can reach the main land Japan, the B-29 was the answer. 

But i am sure somebody like ack-ack will come along and give a better reason.

B-29 had the range to hit Japan. All production was geared for PTO.

There were already a significant number of 17's, 24's and 26's in the ETO and the allies already enjoyed air dominance by the time the B29 was rolling off the factories.

The B29 was the only bomber with the range to hit Japan from the fields the US held that were long enough to host bomber units. B17s could barely reach the southern coast of the Jp mainland.

Put these together and you see why it was sent to the PTO.
