Blasted La-7s!
« on: January 22, 2011, 12:52:20 AM »
Those pesky La-7s South of A7 were sure a handful!  :lol

I haven't checked the film yet, but whoever chased me back to the town at A7, where I broke when you and your other wingmen got too close? I alllllmost had a shot on you. I saw you drifting down nicely right into line with an overshoot tater kill, but stupid me! I forgot in the heat of battle I lost a flap earlier... And that I popped a notch or two of flaps in that mad jink to get you to overshoot... Just... couldn't.... roll.... right! Would only have taken a few degrees! Oh, so close!

Regardless, I'm rather glad you broke off when you did (to rejoin your unit fighting the rest of my squad of K4s further South?) as I'm pretty sure you might have had me before too long.

Very intense in fits and spurts!

I won't even get into my 1-winged landing, later on!

Tough fights all around. I swore and called you names, but nothing personal.  :D

"Heat of battle" and all that.  :salute

Krusty was that you guys that jumped a flight of 6 P-39 to the SW of A7? Sure would like to know who it was that I got the 37mm into and let his wing fly off in the wrong direction.

If that was you guys you jumped us good since we were the bait I guess with no escort taking the side trip around A6. We were just about to start our descent into the town from about 15k when someone in our flight yelled "Break 109's!" About 30 seconds later my wingman gets ripped apart and so does another guy. Then the CO gets a nasty case of Me-109 butt latch and he broke left and the 109 tried a stall turn but I nailed his butt to the sky. THEN it went all down hill from there for us we lost another guy and then it was me against 2-3 109s in my P-39Q diving for the deck to try and lead them away from out two that broke out headed for the A7 town. Don't know what happened to them but I led a few 109s on a wild goose chase for a minute or two till they finally got enough into me to drop my right wing in half and I couldn't pull out of the slight nose down I was in to evade.

That was us, just not me. Different flight of 4 engaged you. Heard about it on vox, though.

Edit: Actually we were on our way to dogpile you when we got tied up with the La7s I wrote about above.

Don't know why you were coming to dogpile since we already had our heads stuck on the pikes near the gates to the city we just didn't know it yet.

I was waiting on you to get careless....you flew a hell of a plane there DrBone...right up until you broke opposite of Branch (39 you were chasing). I was having a hell of a time keeping my tail clear and trying to line you up and was about to stall when you slid across the gun sight picture. I just couldn't resist it at all.
