advice on throttle purchase
« on: January 23, 2011, 10:02:22 AM »
I am thinking of picking up a throttle so I can go HOTAS.  I already have a logitech 3d pro stick and saitech pro flight rudder pedals.  I am thinking I should get a two lever throttle in case I want to fly a p38 or 110 or a buff but I mostly fly single engine planes.  I would want a hat switch on the throttle if possible to complement the one on my stick for choosing views.  Do you guys have any suggestions?

other than the "cool factor" a dual throttle isn't really any "extra" help in a 38 or 110. CH is the way to go for a good product that lasts.

I love my suncom sfs split throttle.  Works great with AH, feels very heavy. Plus, you can reprogram it on the fly, in game, while flying.  Has 2 4-way hats, though, so if you need an 8-wAy, you'll need to get something else. You should be able to get one on eBay for abot 15-20 bucks, and you'll need one of those radio shack game port USB adapters. Plus ps/2 keyboard.

I've seen people do some pretty funky acm with a p38 and a split throttle. Also nice for heavies of course.

If you want to spend a *cough* little *cough* money you can pick up the Logitech G940. I have it and I am happy with it totally.

CH is good but too many people have had problems with the size of their hands vs. the stick, the only thing is with the CH I found is you have to get a separate USB hub where as the g940 is all intragated. They have gotten their firmware updated and fixed so there is no problem there.
