Amazing response time. They were on the scene within 15 minutes!

Thank goodness for these men and women!

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

On the more serious side....
The UK (Royal?) coast guard rescued the crew of an Icelandic freighter in the North Sea some years back. It was a job well done, I think no losses, and under absolutely horrible conditions.
If my memory serves me , the crew involved was honoured by our president.
I'll try to find it.
BTW, my great uncle was a wartime pilot in the RAF. Seeing the "search and rescue" vessel at Hendon (I think it was there) brought this gentle smile on to his face. He had to fly quite a bit over water you see ;)
