ah okay, So there were 20 kits made, 16 of them have been sold and 2 of them remain air worthy, at leased I think I got that right

She was completely restored and is currently at the Flying History Collection in Everett Washington.

No. You can't request a DB605D engine from Mercedes Benz, let alone the fuselage and countless other vital components. It would cost ridiculous amounts of money (even for the ridiculously wealthy, I would imagine) to craft all of these components from scratch, and all to produce only 1 plane!
Aside from the 190 and 262 replicas there were some Ki-43 replicas built in Ft Worth a few years back. Buy a copy of Fly Past magazine sometime and check all the planes that are being restored with lots of parts being made from scratch. A P-61, PB4Y-2 Privateer, 109s, 190s, and so on. Good stuff :aok
