I feel like posting this because of the awesome job done against huge and massive odds.

Nightmares were tasked with defending A23, ~10 of us in F4F's. We lost 2 to disco's, that left 8 (I say this because I know aussie readers will struggle with the math).

A23 was attacked by approximately 8 + 6 formations of G4M"s, ie ~42 bombers, plus an escort of A6M's and Ki67's - guessing maybe a dozen escort total.

So this little band of 8 F4F's stood up to the enemy in 6:1 odds, managed to take down 15, and only one pilot was killed (we did have a bail and a couple of ditches though).

Yea, you guys must have hit the second wave hard.  We just saw two cons in the first wave.

When you are outnumbered, flying an anemic F4F at 24,000 feet, you have to pick your time to fight.  If the bomber formation hadn't turned in our direction we might never have been able to make an interception.

Bomber where in good formation.  As soon as they dropped their ords and change their course, they where scattered badly.  Would have been a big mess you you guys showed up at the right time.
