Every time this subject comes up I post this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT322GiT5lw

Everyone who says, "But I've got nothing to hide." has to think about the bigger picture here. To me Facebook violates certain principals and crosses lines that shouldn't be crossed.

Can't blame Facebook, can only blame it's users for helping to propagate data mining technologies.

Thanks a lot jerks. :neener:

I put some pics up of crappie I caught the other day. Bastards will probably try to sell my info to some jig maker.

Ummm, you do know that fbWildcat has a fishing thread around here somewhere. I humbly request you release these crappie photos for the perusal of the Aces High community.

" welcome back (insert name) to facebook, once you join they own all your info, anything you add they can share with the advertisers or research companies who pay FB for your info, nothings free on the internet

How many of you have never had or have quit their facebook accounts?

I did last week. I got tired of spreading my personal info in Mr. Zuckenbergs advantage and starting to have internet ads stating 'this friend of yours bought this or watched this' crap.

I think Facebook is a wolf in sheeps disguise and most of the people do not realize what they're messing with. They're turning peoples social behaviour into a tool of control and business.

Never had a facebook, but recently decided to look up a few friends and see what they're doing. Found them, added them, said hello. The end. There's a reason why we never call each other up. Facebook isn't going to change that, just gives you the ability to stay in touch in the most passive way. I mean, the least one can do is call or see each other in person, it's infinitely more intimate. I think facebook drives people apart because they feel like they "talk" to someone, but it's just pixels on a screen. You cannot convey real emotion through :D

Do you think this is just the global trend? Before we had to go to someone's house to talk to them, then call, now we can just send an email or text. A lot of people have the same opinion, but doesn't seem like the majority. Basically everyone I know has a facebook!! Maybe 1/4 of them ever check it, though this is just the beginning of the digital age.

Like I said - just a smattering of common sense goes a long way - don't put anything on Facebook (or in the AH BBS for that matter) that you wouldn't your righteous 90 yr old grandma to see...

And don't post your address, phone number, SSN etc. etc. on there either.

I am much more paranoid about eBay and Craigslist than Facebook.

TC, all of the links you post fall under the 'common sense' category...unfortunately that's in short supply these days.

yeah, except for a small minority, I think   "common sense" started becoming extinct right after the Generation X, but started showing the signs of being absent during that generation......  :D

I know. I slipped up, and have changed all of my e-mail addresses and passwords.

Only thing left to do is change ISP address right?

I have a Facebook, and I didn't even make it.  Some dirtbag made it and set the profile picture to a Latino male pornstar/bodybuilder.

So you went to the trouble of posting pictures on Facebook but don't want to go to the trouble of deleting them? or just changing your settings?
sounds kinda like the girl who dresses up all sexy, with nearly nothing on, then tells all the guys,, DON'T LOOK AT ME!   lol

I'm saying I don't want all the people seeing all the pictures.
