sorry, i havent done much research on the king tiger. never really interested me. (only reason i even knew there was a king tiger was because i ran into 3 of them on call of duty 3).
i said that by looks. to me it looks like a tigers 88m gun+ turret on a panthers body.

KT had a redesigned hull (probably based off something else) which was much heavily armored. It boasted the 88mm L/71 while our Tiger I has the 88mm /L56.

Not to mention that the cartridge of the KwK 43 L/71 gun was a much more devastating round than the Tiger I's Kwk 36 L/56.  The King Tiger could penetrate another 40-50 mm of armor at 2000 yards vs the Tiger I.  There is something to be said for that amount of firepower!
