i dont care about skill i care about having fun with it..

So, IF you were to fly online and get shot down repeatedly, would you like to find out why?

Or would you cry, "HAXORZ!!1!"

Back to the OP:

To solve your problem immediately, let the game name the films.

It would be nice to get the standard Windoz message,"There is already...."

Exactly... Maybe, since this thread about saving films doesn't apply to you
and all, maybe you should reply elsewhere?

Anyway, +1 for an enhanced/advanced film-saving device/coad/thingy.

i dont usually film my sorties. i dont really care if i get shot down/shoot someone down. after all, it is just a game...

Then why are you squandering your time reading and then posting in a thread, on a bulletin board for a game that you don't really care about?

I like the time/date stamp idea compared to the current set up.

Currently (with Vista) the time/date is already provided for me when I'm
browsing my films. What I personally would like to see added is another
form of ID - something like '109K4-[xkills]-long-10/30/12-1', or something
to that affect.

Some of you seem to misunderstand the time and date suggestion. ALL files have a time and date. If you check the properties it will tell you exactly when it was created.

To prevent AH films from being overwritten, the NAME of the file has to be unique.  I dont really need to see the time and date. It is merely a way to create a UNIQUE name/number, every time you save a film.
Fear? You bet your life...but that all leaves you as you reach combat. Then there's a sense of great excitement, a thrill you can't duplicate anywhere...it's actually fun. Yes, I think it is the most exciting fun in the world. — Lt. Col. Robert B. "Westy" Westbrook, USAAF 6/<--lol@mod

I'm not misunderstanding, as far as I understand things.  ;)

If the time/date stamp was used as the file name (instead of "Film #"), then no films would be automatically overwritten.

Ta-dah!

:aok Good idea.  Date stamp format MMDD HH:MM (month, day, hour and minute)  Hopefully year will not be needed.  Time of the film will be more helpful than year in my opinion.
