Good Laptop for AH
« on: February 21, 2011, 04:42:59 PM »
Hello All.

I travel about 85% of the time for my job, and I'd like to play AH while on the road from the comfort of my hotel room.  Anyone have any good or not so good experiences with certain laptops?  I currently have an HP with the i3 and intergrated graphics. Just not as much fun playing AH with out the eye candy.  I'm looking to spend between 1000-1600, but prefer not to go much higher.  Any help would be appreciated.

I know there is a cheap alienware laptop in that range. I thought about getting one but ended up getting an hp as a gift. The alienware had great reviews.  :rock

my macbook runs AH in HD with detail at 59fps, but it runs hot. I play films on it, but wouldnt want to fly on it much because the heat wont be good for it longterm. my last powerbook is still going at 9yrs old, I want this one to last too :)

lots of high end laptops in your price range...looks like 1200-1400 will get you a core i7 cpu and 17.3 inches of screen size, with a good high end mobile graphics chip...

Check out the ASUS Replubic of Gamers laptops.
I bought one in your price range, and am able to run with lots of eye candy.  Just make sure you don't play AH on battery saver mode...cost me a bad frame in the Phillipine Phandango Scenario due to a severe reduction in frame rates.

What Kermit Said.

This is at your high range at 1450$, but it's 17"LED, i7, sick video card for a laptop etc...you can play with everything full blast and then some, and Asus make extremely reliable products other than motherboards.

Despite their reputation, Acer can make a decent system too, I've had one of their notebooks since 2006 and it is still functioning as new, and was only 450$ when I bought it.  This one is 1200$ ish, and is 17" i7 5850 vid etc...pretty good for the bang for the buck.
