I found that they are very easy compaired to other bombers in the game, just point and click, I would say the bigger "problem" other people are having is it taking a few pings and lighting up like a christmas tree

Right I forgot about the PT boat, we do have a new one. But It's the T-34/85 that got updated, not the /76. The B-24 does have a yoke (compared to most older planes), however besides that it still looks old.

+1 for new cockpit art for the remainign planes.  If there's a way to do it without losing the current skins (esp for the P-40), even better.

The T34/76 came out with the B24 and Ki-84 and was the basis of the new standard

Then it seems as the standard has changed.

Compare the /76 to the /85, they're both at the same standard.
The AHII standard has increased rather significantly from the B24 and Ki 84, though, and though they are generally considered updated it would be nice to see them reworked a bit once the genuinely old aircraft are done.

-1

I don't understand the need for detailed eye candy.

New plane types enhance playability of the game.

Better plane details is like asking for a fancy coffin.

Immersion?
The new plane models look fantastic.
Also none of the gun positions on old models have rear sights, they're impossible to use with TrackIR.

The fundemental difference between old and new skins is that the old ones were built for 256 res art and then rescaled to 1024.

When the art was only 256 by 256 pixels HTC artists used various tricks to get enough detail on the skin. Things like mirroring; using the same piece of art for both the left and right wing panels. Also stretching the edges of the side art over top and bottom of the fuselage and adding little patches where detailed items like insignia or noseart went.

The later skins designed for 1024 by 1024 generally use very little of this mirroring and stretching, which makes them much easier to skin accurately. The B-24 is an example of a later skin, there is no mirroring of major parts (wings, fuselage etc.) and very little stretching.

New rides like the B-29 and Panther tend to generate more player interest than remodelled ones. Look at the amount of BBS traffic for the B-29 vs the A6M5. So I'd guess HTC will continue with their policy of adding one or two of each on each update.
