I am undecided on getting a new desktop, or to just get my current one fixed.

Very little information in that post, may I suggest info on:

  • What system you're running now?
  • What would you like your new system to be capable of
  • What are you looking to spend?

dxdiag with system info and graphics card info would help greens...
