joystick recommendation?
« on: March 10, 2011, 10:52:07 PM »
I'm thinking of flying a bit of AH while I'm deployed, but I need a joystick.  My old stick setup still works but it's at home, plus it is a full stick/throttle/rudders setup and  I don't have room for all that here.  What I think I need is a stick with throttle and maybe twist grip rudder.  Any suggestions?

I was leaning towards a ch flightstick pro because I used to fly AH with a complete ch setup in the past, but it doesn't have rudders.  I suppose I could skip the twist grip rudders and just use keyboard rudders, because I'm going to have to use the kb for a lot of other things like flaps and gear anyhow.

Price is flexible, but a new ch flightstick pro USB is about $60 so I'd like to stay fairly close to that.  Also, I have had bad luck with cheaper logitech or saitek stuff breaking and I need this stick to last at least 5 months.  I have a full programmable stick/throttle saitek X-something setup from way back and that has been reliable, but I'm not sure about their cheaper sticks.

Thanks for any advice.

thrustmaster t-flight hotas x stick...you can have twisty rudder or there is a rocker switch on the front of the throttle for rudder control...lots of buttons.

pretty heavy duty too...more robust than logitech or saitek.

Does that TM stick have an 8-way hat or just a 4-way?  I forgot to mention that I really prefer 8-way hat.

Eagle

PM me your addy and I will "GIVE" you my back up stick, it is a Saitek Cyborg X

It may not be the best but it is what you are looking for twist stick, compact and also has dual throttle.

If that free one doesn't work out.   :joystick:

I recently got a Thrustmaster T.16000M for 30 bucks from Amazon.  Hall senors instead of pots, 12 buttons on the base but really only 6 are easily reachable, very precise so far.  Twisty rudder and throttle slider.  Map the trigger button to the up view and you have all views with the hat.  Three other buttons on top next to hat for weapons or whatever.  Hard to beat for the price.
