New country status read-out
« on: March 07, 2011, 10:29:53 PM »
Currently when you look at country status, you get something like, "Bish own 93% of your fields, 3% of Rook fields and, 4% Knight fields".  What I would like to see is something like below:

With the new lower requirement to win the war, I know I've hesitated to up bombers, especially a formation of 29s, if I fear the war might be won in the next 2 hours.  Currently it's a guessing game how close other countries are unless you count up the fields.  Maybe it's suppose to be a "fog of war" kind of thing, but I think it'll limit the bomber presence on smaller maps.  Though this won't make people jump into bombers, it'll give them more reasonable information to make that decision.  I know I will tend to err on the safe side when looking at a map, this might actually encourage me to take more flights.

I always try to think of a way a new wish could hurt the game, or people would exploit it, so let me know if you know of a way.

Am I wrong?  I thought that if you were in flight when the map changes, no perks are lost.

I've never heard that, but you might be right.  I know I've been on the field when the war is won and the entire map does that weird country switch.  Many a 91st lost 29 perkies on that.

EDIT:  Also, it isn't all about the perkies, I still won't up a long-range lanc or 17 run if I don't think I'll have time to complete the mission.

Oh ya, being on what used to be an enemy field when the war is won will get you killed.  But if you are in the air and stay alive until the arena resets you won't lose anything, I believe.

I believe skuzzy or some other staff from HTC described it,
basically, that 'it's as if the sortie never happened', therefore
you would neither gain nor lose perks IIRC.

The perk losing thing is a tough call.......  I have memories of that going both ways but those memories are years old.

I totally appreciate the idea Jayhawk, but at the same time, it takes away from careful calculations that need to be made before upping a perk heavy plane late in the war.

I am at least +1/2 for it though!

since its public information anyway, (if one kept track of who owns what at the beginning of the map), i dont see why it shouldnt be available as jayhawk requests..   :aok  though usually if you just ask on 200 someone will tell you..

And i think i'll be the smartarse here and point out that if the bishies own 5% of knights, and rooks own 0% of knights, then the knights must own 95% of their bases

Each horizontal line MUST be equal to 100%. In this chart it coincidental made the vertical lines equal 100% too but thats not always the case.
