From a film clip discussing the British night fighters attacking Luftwaffe Bombers, these two pilots British and German recall how it was.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfPN2NYN6so

"We would creep up behind them.  If you could we would get just beneath them, and then come up just slightly behind them, so they didn't see you and go as close as you dare and then open up....."

Yeah, I know I turn my gamma way up  :D

In the linked film, I found it funny that the German pilot explained how angry he felt about being surprised by the fighter tactics and that his crew had not spotted them.  Considering the actual outcome and loss of life due to both the bombing and the burning plane, I must admit I to being a little disturbed.

Mine already *is* - this card has always been on the darker side, even if i crank up every monitor control I can find, be it from the vid card or the monitor itself, without going to te extent of being blinded by a white background (or run two different gamma settings.)
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

it's not hard to track multiple cons in a bomber.

i had 2 or 3 on my 24's a couple of months ago. the landed in sectors 12-5 through 13-5.  :aok :devil

Shane,

I hear ya.  Not that I think you haven't tried this but just in case.  I had a similar problem with gamma and brightness.  I discovered that my contrast settings had a darkening effect also.  When I had a graphics card (currently struggling to put a system together) I constantly played with brightness, contrast, gamma, sharpness, and digital vibrance.  Just when I would get it set, a new update would come in and I would spend hours adjusting it  :(

I was making the adjustments long before no icons.  My eyes are deteriorating very quickly and I need the extra "pop" in color to identify outlines of enemies to determine their attitude towards me.  Very difficult to judge a plane heading at me or just stalled.  I have both zoom options mapped to my joystick and boy do I use them.

Nice shooting Cap!  Anyone we know?  :D

little trick when night time flying is without changing any settings is if there is cloud coverage get above the cloud line and you can pick out the plane's easier , I was doing that alot i think on okinawa or something with the different cloud elevations had one person up and calling out targets as they were seen, but when it changes to night it is only for about 10 minutes not like back in 2002 when you had a night arena for a few hours.
