Dads, Fugitive, you guys are missing the point and purpose entirely.

This isn't about horde control, it's about developing a way to get the second arena to fill up and/or the arenas to balance as quickly as possible once caps kick in.  Lusche's current caps system is better than the old one, however all momentum is lost when the boot happens, and you still have this horrible unbalance issue once the new arena opens.

Perks have value to the majority of players in AH, even players that like to win the war.  How else are they expected to be able to afford the B29, Tempest, Jet, Tigers/Panthers?  Jaboing bases only earns you a couple perks here and there, it's almost worthless for perk building Dads.

I personally think there would be a good percentage of players willing to switch on any given day at the cap time, maybe 15-20% or so, which would be the perfect number.  With this idea it might only take Blue 20-30 minutes to fill up to capacity as opposed to 2-3 hours under the old system.

You could always post an ingame poll "Would you be willing to switch arenas mid day if you received a very large perk bonus multiplier for your troubles?"

Yes
No
Maybe
Not Applicable to me, I don't usually fly mid day

I don't know about the Landing stipulation, as that may cause more altmonkey-dive-pick-run behavior, the rest of it I like. There's nothing worse for gameplay than being locked out of the 101/100 arena while the other one is 18/150

The Kanonenvogel had 6 rounds per pod, this is not even close to being open for debate.

I let my subscription go because of the new arena system.  Been playing since '03.  With the two arena system you had options.  With this set up your option is to furball (during the hours that I normall play).  It is not worth $180.00 a year for me.

thats just my $1,440.00 worth.

I agree with you on how frustrating that can be.

Solving the imbalance will resolve just what you described as when you have one arena at 101/100 the other is 18/150.

am I in some type of time warp? when is this? ever since the off hours arena introduction I have not seen 101/100 and 18/150. when I see 119 players total, it's typically off hours, and they all are in the same arena. the off hours arena :)

:lol Thats a daily routine for me when i go to play. Log in, go make a sandwich and coffee because the numbers are going to suck for at least another half an hour. One arena is too low the other is just high enough to not let me in.

This idea has merit and should be explored in more depth. There may be other ways to motivate balanced arenas than just perks, but perks is the place the start.

This is why they could care less about "perk building" since it has become all about winning the warz with these extra players and the side they are attacking with "all or none" (having already the element of suprise, radar glitches, extra players) can horde upon a base with that much force.

This is proven time and time again during the edge of a reset. Players are more willing to play with 29 eny to win that war for the congratulatory 25 perks in each category. Which in fact they can get easy if they just switched to the low side and get just a couple of kills.

Nice idea Grizz. I think it would definatley be better than our system in place now, but I dont think it would fully sway people's decision to fly in a lessly populated arena. There are wayyy too many reasons people just gravitate to one arena ( maps, your country getting ganged in one arena, ENY, all squaddies in one arena) that I really dont think everyone is ever going to be pleased. Eventually if HTC ever did give in and gave everyone 1 arena, I think there would be tons of whining to get it back anyway.

funny i was about to quit, was tired of being in an arena with only a few people.  when they switched to 1 off hours arena, I stayed.

I'm glad you enjoy the new set up.  It just didn't work for the times that I played.   :aok

Too bad when it comes time to shift to the late night arena that the system simply awards everyone in the arena being closed 10 points to goto the late night arena. Then towers them to the late night arena if they accept the offer in their same countries to pick new rides and up in the late night arena.

Everyone would get a system message window with a choice of goto the late night arena for 10points or exit the game.

It sounds lazy and cohersive to place a button in the middel of the screen for a single mouse click and Hitech's coad whisks them away to the next arena along with free points for just clicking their mouse. But, isin't the basic mind set of this whole cartoon existince about convienience and keeping the feeling rolling?

Grizz you are making an ellegant but very mentaly complicated construct based on cohersing players by appealing to their greed. Then you are attempting to support the cohersion with very lofty goals. Who is the audience you are presenting your social engineering document to for peer perusal? Can you reduce it to a level the general herd you want to manipulate will be willing to pay attention to long enough to read and make an informed decision in response?

Your presentation reads like it's targeting a single kindred professional to sell building a new foot bridge over a river while skipping the taxpayer adnausium emotional open forum reviews. After all they don't really know what they want or need do they?

So now we will no longer look at earning perk points as a lofty goal and accomplishment but, rather use them like bread to  mollify the crowds while luring them to the circuses. In this case the special down front in the sand seats, standing and dieing room only. Caesar would be tickled.....
