Sony Vegas 9 Pro-To Buy or Not To Buy!
« on: March 11, 2011, 03:07:38 PM »
I am still....repeat "still" considering the purchase of Sony Vegas 9 Pro.  I am a conservative buyer, ready to use older technology and save a few dollars!  :)  I always build PCs with last months or last years "Hottest" items, whenever possible. They are "New" but the price usually drops and there is research available that is both reliable and better detailed after folks have had time to "debug" them fully..

I found it for $300 (New). This is a deal from it's $599.00 + high.  Just curious if anyone has any "very serious" issues with the software?  I am about to....pounce!   :D

Thanks in advance for a response.

It's a great package IMO. Isn't there also a Vegas 10 now?

It's not one of those lame-duck programs that makes you "buy" it again every year? You're buying the software, not the license, right?

If so, go for it. You can use it for 5 years. If it's a yearly thing, it's a major ripoff. That kind of yearly expense can only be justified for business software, IMO.

Yes, it's full software onetime purchase with a licesne. They do have a new version out - 10, runs just over $500.  I am content to save $200 and I used the Free Demo for version 9 Pro, once or twice.  It's a 30 day download.  It makes DVDs and does a whole lot more. I have Fraps and used to make movies with Windoze Movie Maker.  I still can, but the screen resolution on the new PC is not available for movies or wasn't working at that time. I think WMM is limited to 1024x768 screen max. My montor is a widescreen 24" 1920x1080 is the setting right now, or some such. (this is not that PC) I called it "Gamer" for a reason!   :rofl
Fraps will capture the size nicely, but it won't convert with WMM.

this version is only 64 bucks after a 30 rebate.  it is more than adequate to make movies.  the main difference between one and the other is that there's no interactive guide, and that the expensive one is more suitable for professionals.  you can always look you youtube guides on how to do stuff.

see this comparison between all the versions and choose whichever you want.

Excellent links, Semp. I have checked them briefly and might really be hot on them now. Just downloaded the Sony Vegas 10 Pro Trial version Sunday. I am going to use it as a test after the Scenario is finished. Might try my hand with it then. I haven't installed it yet. I want to read on the versions on top. Nice comparison links too!  Thanks for the help. Guess I was suffering from "target fixation"   :rofl

Paid around $80 for  sony 9 platinum

I use it for most of my stuff
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=sony+vegas+9+platinum&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=NPe&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=ivns&resnum=4&biw=1904&bih=991&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=15301504706854264140&sa=X&ei=OL5-TbO5COO90QGM7_n7CA&ved=0CGIQ8gIwAg#
Looks like its cheaper now  $60 to $95   I don't know why you would want to spend the extra 3 or 4 hundred  unless you do a lot of film stuff,,  it is also upgradable so if you do need more,, just download the upgrades
They used to have a thirty day free trail as well!
These movies are made by me with Vegas

these are not

the best thing about Vegas I have found is the ability to go frame by frame,, with the ACES HIGH film viewer not working very well these days, it helps if you can find and cut out the stutters
Flying since tour 71.

if you decide to buy it, do it f from newegg, it's cheaper.  I paid 50 for mine, almost same options as their top of the line but 500 cheaper.
