Beauty in this world
« on: March 20, 2011, 12:31:43 PM »
Well nobody else started it so here it is  :D

IMHO I think there's still more beauty in this world than ugliness. There's still so many places where you can find beauty here. The Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountains, most of Alaska and Hawaii, even places here in Montague County are pretty stunning (especially around the Red River on our northern border and the wooded hills in the southwestern part of the county) just to name a few in the US, not to mention the thousands of other places around the world. Also think about the weather, clouds in particular. I love big storm clouds and to me their some of the most beautiful things on earth. The northern lights are another great example of beauty. I don't have time to talk about the ugliness (gotta be at work in 20 mins!) so I'll leave that up to you guys.

Lets hear some of ya'lls opinions and LEAVE POLITICS OUT OF IT!! They don't count towards the ugliness in this discussion  :devil

Some of the most beautiful places IMO:

Tajikistan mountains:

Nanga Parbat in Pakistan:

Barun Valley in Nepal:

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

Taken with a cell phone, so please forgive the quality.

I'll agree that there are still many relatively untouched, and astonishingly
beautiful places on this world, but... We all know of the bad things that
come as a price of this beauty we see.
I'll leave it at that, I'll post a picture of a little ways down my road.

I trifle cliche but I don't think I've had any place just take my breath away like Yosemite valley.  We didn't see much of the valley floor to try and avoid some of the people.  The first shot is looking down the valley, half dome at the end on the right and El Capitan, a 3000 foot vertical granite formation is on the left.

The second photo is directly across from and looking down on El Capitan from a rock outcropping at the end of a hiking/snow shoe trail.

Half Dome
