The best solution IMO is to get trackIR, that's what real pilots would use if cockpit bars were enough to block the sun.

next time you're out on a clear day with the sun blazing away, put a 2 inch thick stick in front of you at arms length and try to block the glare with it...then go look at the way some of the canopies are made...a pilot would not be loosening his safety harness enough to try and block the sun with a piece of the canopy framework.
