I've always wondered what people think can be done with a license plate number?  Seriously, if it was really an issue we'd all have been hosed already.  We do drive around in public with the plates showing all the time.

I miss my Alpine :)

I'll bet!  What year was it?  Pretty car!  My Spyder is a 1983, but it is the third one I have owned.  Had a '72 when I was in college (a '74 after college), man that thing was a chick magnet!   :D  I miss the '72, it didn't have the fuel injection like the '83.  Good 'ol fashioned carb, even had points in the distributor.  But like any older car, if something went wrong it didn't take several thousand dollars of computer gear to figure out what is really wrong and fix it.

It's a 1964 Series IV with the later 1725cc engine and massive 76bhp :). Typical Lucas electrics - bad earths for the indicators meant the sidelights flashed. But very easy to work on - even a mechanical moron like me could do it.  You see far fewer Alpines than MGBs here, I think alot of them went to the US. And then of course Carroll Shelby got hold of it and crammed that Ford V8 in it!

You see mostly MGBs around here now days.  But even they are getting pretty rare.  As far as I know, my Fiat is the only Spyder in central Illinois.  I can't remember the last time I saw another Fiat on the road.  Most people mistake it for an MGB.

PFactorDave and Baggy,

Gorgeous cars, sirs.

My first car was a '78 Triumph Spitfire 1500, carried me all over for 10+ years and over 100K miles. I loved that car. Sold it right after I got married, and have regretted it ever since. I've been looking for it for about 3 years now, but I lost track of the buyer back in '96, and he was in the Air Force at the time so there's no telling where he and the car wound up.....

I'lll have another some day..... she was the first (and best) of the 6 Triumphs I've owned.....

Her name was Jaqueline....

We call my car Penny.  She is a Fiat Pinnanfarina Spyder, hence Penny.   :D

I nearly bought a Spitfire once.  But the one I was looking at needed more work then I could afford at the time.  Which is ironic, just a few months later I bought my first Fiat 124 Spyder.  It was sitting in a field with weeds growing up around it.  We couldn't start it.  But I bought it anyway and my brother and I spent quite a few evenings and weekends getting it running and in good order.
