Any info on CH Hanger Forum's not up?
« on: March 16, 2011, 01:34:02 PM »
Trying to find out what it takes to switch over older CH stick and pedals from PS2 to USB, and is the U-HID the only
interface that can do that? they want 80buck's for that thing!

The only controllers that used any sort of PS2 connectors were the analog Pro Throttle, Fighterstick and Combat Stick and that was only for the keyboard passover cable to program the controllers.

You can use a Gameport to USB connector that would allow you to use your legacy analog CH gear to a USB port but at the expense of not being able to program your controllers.  However, someone at CH Hanger has written up a small tutorial on how to get past the programming issues.

You guys must be talking about something more complex than I understand.

That wouldn't work because XP, Vista and W7 no longer support the use of "keyboard passovers" which is what the PS2 cables on the legacy CH gear were.  This allowed you to connect the KB passover cable to the PS2 port and then the keyboard would connect to the end part of the passover cable which then allowed you to program the controllers.  That adaptor wouldn't work to connect the controllers, he would need a gameport to USB adaptor and then a boot disk to boot into DOS so he could use PTSETUP or CHSETUP (the old DOS programming software) and program his old controllers and then boot up into Windows afterwards.
