more control of bomber formation
« on: March 17, 2011, 11:44:16 AM »
would it be possible to alter the bomb load out and or how the bombs are dropped when flying bombers  with fornation enabled? maybe just the salvo for formation?. picture this. you have a formation of bombers. with salvo 1  only 1 bombe would drop in the catagory selected......not 1 from each bomber. to have have 1 from each bomber salvo 3 would be selected. this could enable ALL bombs to be placed on targets instead of the three plane spread. also would it be nice to say have 1 bomber with large bombs and the other 2 with a different loadout? great for those who take long flights.  also how about different formation configs, right now we can only do 2... the std three plane... and  at reduced speed, all in a line with gear down. how about a slant, wingtip to wingtip,or inline at speed?

changing the formation configurations with a dot command...  :aok +1

the salvo equation...  :uhoh -1

it have made sense when you wrote it but...think about it for a bit...you want to throw in, keeping track of how many bombs are on each aircraft in a formation, as well as trying to add a multiplier to the salvo settings...in your equation, to drop a single bomb from 1 plane in the formation would be dot salvo 1...but which plane do you want it to come from? so add that to the dot command dot salvo 1 plane 2...but which one is plane 2, port side or starboard side??? wait, you changed the formation line-up, now plane 3 is actually plane 2...

nevermind, now i just want to drop a 3 bomb salvo from all planes in the formation...dot salvo 9...???

no offense but...does that really make sense to you?

The only reason to do this is to allow a higher score per bomb. Why not just take a single aircraft? I believe the answer is you feel more secure with more guns along. If thats so you are doing it wrong to begin with.

Risk/reward is setup like it is for a reason and you cannot have the same reward for less risk.

I would like it so if you hit a hanger, but don't bring it down you could do a 180 and just drop 1 bomb to destroy it instead of 2

Same bomb load out for all 3 bombers.

Same salvo for all 3 bombers.

Same delay for all 3 bombers.

Don't make AH any more gamey than it is.

The only thing I would like to see regarding formations is a dot command to vary the distance the bombers are from each other.
