Hello from Santiago, Chile
« on: March 20, 2011, 08:34:41 AM »
Just arrived the apartment hotel a little bit ago after an all night flight. Wow there was a lot of security around the airport and on the main road into the city. I had never seen anything like it before in Chile. There were also tons of police or caribineros as they are called here all preparing for a state visit.

Going to get some sleep and then head to a place called mercado central later for some delicious seafood. And hopefully start with a glass of what could be called "seafood juice". Will try to get some pics.

Riding on the Metro. A great way to get around Santiago on the weekend. Quite busy during rush hour. Great deal at 75 cents.

Seafood juice or Jugo de Mariscos. It had a mix of everything from some fish, crab, shrimp ground up to sea urchin roe.

The following pics are from the Mercado Central. My favorite place in Santiago. It's a giant seafood market and lots of restaurants with the best one being Donde Augusto.

I had Conger Eel Stew for lunch made of this. Conger Eel or Congrio.

Some type of comedy skit.

And some type of very weird thing. Would like to try sometime. Also click on video below pic for more.
