Silent6:
If you haven't given up entirely on your HD TV, I think it would be worth trying one more thing: a VGA cable. I know you are *supposed* to get the best quality from HDMI, but in my case, in some reading I did on the web after getting just horrible quality on my 47" with HDMI, switching to a VGA cable brought back the smooth quality and good color I expected from the HD TV. It's really amazing to fly with it, and it's "only" $500 or thereabouts for a 47" class HDTV. Cheaper than the 3-monitors-in-one setup I imagine.
One warning: use a 6 ft or less cable. I ordered 2 longer cables on amazon, maybe 12 feet and 15 feet, and on both of them, even though they were nice and heavy, I couldn't get full 1920x1080 resolution from Windows. Missing pin or something apparently. The cheap old $3 6ft VGA cable works great!
