doah you guys were right......
« on: March 25, 2011, 07:07:47 AM »
I am definitely gonna look into getting a HD monitor instead of the HD TV I have. I just connected the new comp last night and aces looks like crap on it. My question is should I go with a large LCD monitor or the three screens using eyefinity? I just took a look and the 46 inchers cost about a grand. I really am leaning towards this so I can still use my ps3 on one setup. I have read you can connect the ps3 to a comp monitor as long as it has a dvi? I just want your thoughts... also I am having problems with windows 7 and I can't connect to my wireless network, I think my router isn't assigning my comp an IP and I get the message "limited connectivity" I checked the connection status and it doesn't receive any packets.... any suggestions? I spent a couple of hours last night Googling a solution.

depending on the model of your HD 46" TV, it should have a PC Mode.... in which you should be able to go thru and setup/calibrate to use as a PC Monitor..... chck your HD TV Manual

you bought this from CyberPowerPC, right?  Don't they offer lifetime tech support? I'd be getting on the phone and ask them why I would be having problems with a brand new PC/ brand New OS

are you using wireless? could be the placement of the PC from where the router is located

edit: just saw where u posted bout the router/etc....

...... not sure what else I could sugest without more details...

edit: what type of problems are you having with your Windows 7?

on the screen part you can look up this 3 in 1 model, If I could I would get it I think  :rock

and indeed a PS3 will work on most screens via DVI and HDMI plug, TV's and Computer screen are very close connection and resolution wise nowadays

For your connection issues, alot of wireless adapters don't support Win7 yet (and probably won't supply a new driver).  Post the model of your wireless adapter and I'll look for a workaround.  If it's easier, just pick up a new adapter that's Win7 compatible.  That'll fix ya right up.

Silent6:

If you haven't given up entirely on your HD TV, I think it would be worth trying one more thing: a VGA cable. I know you are *supposed* to get the best quality from HDMI, but in my case, in some reading I did on the web after getting just horrible quality on my 47" with HDMI, switching to a VGA cable brought back the smooth quality and good color I expected from the HD TV. It's really amazing to fly with it, and it's "only" $500 or thereabouts for a 47" class HDTV. Cheaper than the 3-monitors-in-one setup I imagine.

One warning: use a 6 ft or less cable. I ordered 2 longer cables on amazon, maybe 12 feet and 15 feet, and on both of them, even though they were nice and heavy, I couldn't get full 1920x1080 resolution from Windows. Missing pin or something apparently. The cheap old $3 6ft VGA cable works great!
