Missions posted to country chat?
« on: March 29, 2011, 07:58:14 PM »
Any thoughts on an automatic country post when a mission is created?  I love the idea of missions, but I feel that it turns into a popularity contest rater than brining all of us together.  Thoughts, suggestions on maybe expanding this concept?  Automatic game created missions, a perk reward for joining...etc.

It's a popularity contest due to some players are known factors in mission fun and success and others are unknown to anyone. Lately missions have a "taint" to them because of the perception a mission equals an NOE hoard grab of undefended feilds. As you get into the more veteren audience in the three countries missions need to have more "FUN" and/or 'Novelty" than simply taking a base. They have all been there and done that.

Many squads now just do a squad thingy. Some do mass I16 raids never expecting to survive. Or a mass C202 raid knowing the enemy will be screaming on local that 30 C205 are dropping from the sun. You can't tell from the Icon untill the C2 is inside of 1k which C2. The high alt Stuka raids are by fun the most hilarious. Even 20 jeeps and 20 M3 simply running onto a feild has a comic value to it.

Everyone knows 30 pimply faced virgins or 3 squads of them working together on squad night can take any undefended feild on the map with an NOE raid. There is no bang for the buck in that other than you might get killed by ack while you deack. Maybe if you posted missions where you want 30 players to join you in brewsters to assult a feild and announced you were coming on ch200 to get some defenders up and waiting. But, then what would be the point of that? The bad guys would know you were coming and you would have to fight a co equal hoard when you got to their feild......

If you do it enough times the veteren players often remember you and ask when your next "Fun" fight picking mission will be. First you have to start small and show people you can attract players to your offering, lead the mission, and it was fun. Word of mouth does the rest. Coming to this forum with this in any capacity is not a good begining to sell yourself as someone fun to be in a mission with. A sales pitch on channel by the members of your mission is part of the "Vote of Confidence" you have to earn in the game.

Once you announce your mission on country players will look. You cannot force them to join you if they don't like what they see in relation to what or who they know. You will do better by making more freinds in your country than posting in here asking Hitech to change some nuance in the mission process.

^^^ well said.

If it were automated it would be another automated source of channel clutter
without the ability to put a sense of the missions intent into it.

I agree, keep the missions in the mission section of the clipboard.  I already get sick of people jibberjabbering on and on about whether or not the mission will get spy'd out before we even launch.

I would also suggest refraining from asking the mission leader specific questions about the mission on country channel, everything you truly need to know about the mission is shown on the clipboard.  If a person needs to take their own plane, I suggest joining the mission then doing a .goto mission planer or .move mission base to ask specifics in the tower.

A side note here.  You can actually take any plane you want in a mision.
Just get your desired plane ready in the hanger and join the mission.  When the mission asks you how you want to score your sortie, spawn your plane before clicking Attack / Fighter.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.
