B-24 wish
« on: April 01, 2011, 08:35:45 PM »
how about pulling the belly turret inside the plane on the B24? it could do that in real life and would reduce drag (just a little bit) and it puts a little more realizim into the game, also if it gets shot you couldnt pull it back up or move it around because the gears that would make it move and suck would get jammed and would be almost impossible to get the thing working again

just an idea

*puts on flame-resistant suit* ok...go ahead...

Take offs and landings only otherwise it would be less realistic?

yeah.... i hate it when the runway's end is too short, and i pull up too sharply, and i lose my back half.  :uhoh  but yeah, not a bad wish... and also, would it make sense for the ball turret to come up if say, 1/both main wheels/bogies were shot away? btw skorpion, can i borrow your flame suit?

here, i have an extra one *hands over a suit* ok, get ready coz it gets hot in there

also i think the part you mentioned about the wheels going out would be more realalistic for the game, because if you loose the wing wheels and the ball is down whoever is in there is definately done for.

That has got to be one of the most over-blown tales to come out of WWII.  I really like when Andy Rooney talked all teary eye about watching a B-17 that had it's hydraulics shot out and couldn't get the gear down that had to land with the gunner in the ball.  The B-17 has electric motors to retract and extend the gear, the only hydraulics are the brakes and cowl flaps.

Even if the turret is damaged it can be manhandled around to allow the gunner to exit -- however with enough damage it is certainly possible for the turret to jam and it quite probably did in some instances.

I've been in the ball on a B-24 -- it's a bit odd hanging below the airplane.

This would be a major change in the way our turrets work and an unnecessary one. If your turret gets hit and jammed like you said you wont be able to move it and therefore wont be able to shoot the target, right now if the turret is hit you just can't shoot out of it, so in the end it will be the same thing.
Do you really care if your bottom turret moves up or down on the landing? I would much rather have HTC make a new plane for us than a three dimensional moving turret.
