I recall HiTech saying something to the effect that the last thing a company wants is to be the last man standing of a dying industry.  That was in reference to somebody's comment about the health, or lack thereof, of WarBirds III at the time Fighter Ace was closing down.

Competition is good.

I have been wondering how much WoT is influencing the upcoming changes to the GV game.

Yes, competition is good, it inspires innovation.

I started working on a new control method for tanks last week. It will be similar to the control system in  WoT in that movement will be controlled via aswd from any position.

The new system will account for the different turning abilities of wheeled and tracked vehicles including tanks that could have the tracks turn opposite directions.

Main gun control will be available from the commanders position.

We will also be redoing sights to match the real world counterparts.

I have not played much yet with optic clarity, but I have a few ideas to see how they work.

I'm not learning another 100 planes! Heck I haven't learned the ones I fly currently.

Then this:

Which is in direct contradiction to itself.  So... there will be no concessions for inexperienced players.  Yet, the game will be suitable even for beginners. again...  :huh

This might get me back into flight sims if I can spend a couple of hundred bucks on a jet and shoot down poor people in Spits.

dunno the part about fixing your plane with a screwdriver is fishy

For real hardcore simmers there will be a way to tune and fix your plane's engine with a «screwdriver». Now it is even more realistic than in a real life where there were technicians for that.

dunno. I dont seem to read too many stories about pilots arming and fueling their aircraft themselves. I think they had technicians for that too

No doubt it will look nice, but I can not see it be able to deliver superb graphics, realist physics and FM/DM with 100+ players :) as much as I enjoyed playing WOP...it was quite arcadish.

Made in development with Wings of Prey, no thanks.

Wings of Prey looks stunning, has fantastic optimization of current hardware but the way the planes handle is pure arcade, rubberband responsiveness to the max.

But if a game was developed with AH flight model and WoP graphics, I would take early retirment at the age of 23.

:salute I miss Fighter Ace..... Started that game when I was 13. Found AH2 a few years ago and flew in both... The only good thing to come from FA going under was 90% of my squad actually flies AH2 now as the norm rather than for a taste of something different.

Wasn't WoP based on the Il-2 software?
