Sorry that my work schedule doesn't allow me to fully participate in these.  However, I did get in on the first 15 minutes or so.  With the terrain, we had destructible bridges and lots of buildings to navigate and hide around.

Right off the bat, Waystin and crew knocked out a flanking bridge, as we rolled towards town.  Then someone started popping our guys to the left of me.  Some pretty good snipes too!  I managed to stay out of their line of sight and set up around the corner from where I estimated the fire was coming from.

I had hoped to direct some friendly fire based on my position and proximinity to the bad guys.  Still, our guys were getting popped.  I slipped off a couple of smoke grenades to blind the sniper.  It must have worked for a little bit because two guys rolled in front of my turret and got the business end of the Sherman's AP round...... priceless!!!

Smoke grenade fizzled and I couldn't get support in close enough to cover my flank.  End of the story, Shukes got around behind me and after hearing a couple of MG rounds, and a tank round I found myself reading the clock in the tower.  This was great fun guys.  All in all, good fights on the ground and in the air prior to the ground war also.

What was sweet.......  While in the MA trying to round up some last minute players, I saw CM text SPAM the event in sparkling GOLD letters: "Join the 40 other players in the AvA for featured tank battle beginning at 9 EST"....   That was nicely done USRanger!!

If anyone doubts the Panther's ferocity this event was a showcase of just how lethal they are.  Once they are laid up, the armor is near impenetrable, and the gun can reach out and kill easily at very long distances.

Some recommendations for future events like this:

1) Make sure everyone starts out at the same time.  There were folks laid up and waiting in the town before the Allied forces even left the hangar.  This forced us to traverse a 2,000 yard killing field with no cover.  Ideal sniping situation for a tank like the Panther.

2) More vegetation and building structures to even up the long range gunning ability of the top 3 killers: Tiger, Panther, Firefly.  Make everybody fight up close and personal, it is a heckuva lot of fun that way.

3) Limit the availability of the heavy hitters.  Not sure how this would work, but more tanks like M-4 75's and 76's versus Panzer's would be a hoot as the field is much more level in terms of armor and gun power.

I want to thank the AVAR's for another evening of fun (and punishment-LOL)

 :salute

Indeed Waystin, a fun prescription for GV fun.  It was very fun last night even when  :uhoh ducking sniper fire.    OMG, when the tank changes are instituted we have to make sure to bring the same gang in and as you describe, have a few more checks in place.  I wasn't sure if we actually had any premature instigators or not.  We assume that the drive time and distance to the battlefield was equal, that has to be looked into, but still added realism, getting an early ambush.  Of course it sucked for those that got the sucker punch (usually me).

Screen shots anyone?  I was so caught up in getting there on time I forgot to film it.

i cant remember the spawns in the Burma map, but if there's something that works, shifty's setup is M8's vs M4's. it might be more conducive to a more fair gunfight? might be worth having another one next week!

Each of the two fields is located 1 mile from the river town i.e. equal distance.

I took 6 films & will have screenies to post this weekend. :rock

With that said then there were definite early starts.
