Lots of thin, cold air, lacking substance/full of hot air, much more dense?

It is becuase of the high mach speeds it can shove more air into the engines than normally possible so much that those cones on the leading edge of the engine intakes are actually variable as to not let in to much air.  The limit to the blackbirds speed is temperature I believe.

Yes very bad unless your on the ground slowing to a stop. I think I heard 300 was minimum for any flyby. Wonder how many windows they broke lighting the burners that close to the tower.

 mildenhall is right next to lakenheath as well so they probably got a show as well,  i was there in 2005 and got a little show from some F15E's and C's and great pictures and videos with the arming pad about 80-100yds behind me  :rock

its amazing how small the SR-71 is. In videos it looks really big and long, yet its not that big but is relatively long.

holy wall of text, but interesting none the less ...so 160 knots though ehh. I know it is no comparrison in anyway, but anyone else here ever flown a trainer (da-20) so slow along side the interstate that cars passed ya up? lol

I saw the one on display at one of the Air & Space museums... It was HUGE!  :eek:
