RV-8 Skins

1)Anybody workin on them?

I think Notch said some were already done, but I can't find any of them!

2)Any chance of the RV-8 being added to the hanger selection menu for the TA and SEA's?

3)Are there any other "aerobatic" models in the works, such as the Sukois, CAP's, etc.?


If nothing else, use this thread as a placeholder for the RV-8 skins, that whoever wants to work on and post up!

the RV-8 is HiTechs test plane for the game and he has one in real life so its perfect to help him model the game around it

Thanks for starting this post, Rob. I had sent off a PM to 5point0 to see if maybe he could fire up or remake the ones he did a while back.
Hopefully we can get some skinners to work on them for SASFRAS & just general RV-8 Flying. I will see if I can find the thread where 5point0 had already made some.  One thing we did discuss for racing like skins was no real world advertising.

As a side note, a couple of Conventions ago, I spoke face to face with Hitech and he had expressed that since the RV8 was not a WWII aircraft that skins for it could be original paint schemes because there was no need to authenticate them. Of course they still need to pass quality control to be loaded into the game.

NP Notch, and yeah we wouldn't want any "copyright" no-no's, so I agree with NO "REAL" plane skins and/or "REALWORLD" advertising! But do we have ANY standards set for them?

We NEED some cool lookin skins for the RV-8's (if nothing else, MORE THAN 1 color scheme), but not go overboard on some GAUDY lookin monstrosities, that we had with the Warbirds a few years ago!

We got what 15 skin slots to work with and how many are already in the works (the approval process)? Or is that restriction only on the warbirds? (Guess those questions would be for HT or staff to answer)

And yeah, I was thinkin of doin a couple of RV-8 skins, when I have time, that is!

But either way, participating in the races (in on SASFRAS and ERL) and scenarios (in on BoG), is a good way to keep from getting TOTAL BURN OUT from the game (like I did a few years ago) and totally walkin away from it!

You can get the RV-8 in the hanger menu by using the .showrv command, whether or not it's enabled or not there is up to HTC.

Heh, .plane 89 works for me in the TA, been playin around with it a lil bit there.

hmm im wondering since the RV8 is a stunt plane. is there an AH2 stunt team?

The .plane89 works for selecting the RV-8 once it has been 'discovered' with the .showrv command.

IIRC, a few have tried stunts and stuff like that. Close tight formation flying can be difficult with internet irregularities.

Weird, never had to use the .showrv command, .plane 89 worked from the get go!
