I wouldn't mind reverting to smaller maps for the LWO and LWB when they are split.
Often times I go in there and find 200 to 300 people all hiding in the same 3-4 sectors. The rest of the map is wasted, useless, and simply annoying to fly across at times. Map resets are mostly a thing of the past. There's very little imperative to defend a field against a massive onslaught (okay, there is... the principle of the matter is still there, but it is increased when you have less fields!)
If HTC added the large 512 (that's how big they are, right? 512 miles?) maps to better accomodate the 700+ populations, then reduced the populations to at most 300 or so, why do we still have the mega maps?
Don't get me wrong I like many aspects of the new maps: the tiles, the megastrats, all those new improvements.
Sadly, the actual gameplay seems lacking compared to the average night on the 512 maps. Maybe we can go back to 256 maps? I do notice them once in a while in rotation, but not as much as the newer nicer (but larger) maps.
Maybe a compromise? A new intermediate step in map size? 384 miles?
