Gliders bug the crap outta me here in Germany(I don't know how they are in the States) they're hard as hell to see and they always fly right at you if your close. We've almost hit 4 of em in the last year alone. not to mention they don't talk to anybody over the radio. Like I said I don't know how y'all operate in the states but just keep your SA up because someone else may not see you.

Props on starting to fly aint nothing like it.  :rock

Well I plan on going through AF rotc at embry-riddle aeronautical university and then being a pilot so i am taking adavantage of it and trying to get my liscence. Hopefully with the Aerospace program at my highschool i will graduate high school with my AS from ERAU.

Machfly- yes and no you still pay for a tow plane and the altitude you go to. A 4000 foot tow is about $40 for me.
It all totals out to around 60$ per flight

$60 is still a hell lot cheaper than powered flight. An average DA20 or late models on a C172 cost ~$135 wet (instructor would be extra).

If you plan on going to ERAU be careful if you really want to get your PPL before that, they will make you do everything over again by their standards. If you plan on going there either way it would be a lot cheaper to not do anything before you get there.

Agreed. Gliders are hard to spot and most of the time they don't have a radio.

You said you almost hit 4 of them? How close did you get?

Actually my high school is apart of embry riddle world wide so i will be getting it with there professors and their standards.  So that by taking these classes and dual- enrolling i will have a 2-year degree from ERAU before i have my  high school diploma.

Make sure that's going to work. Because I know if you transition from the Daytona campus to Prescott they will still have you repeat a whole bunch of stuff.

The credits do get transfered but since the schools do their flying differently they will want you to learn their procedures. I recommend you give them a call and ask if you will have to take the "109 transition course". I'll send you a PM later in the day with the name of who you want to talk to and the contact number, don't talk to admissions about it they are just like army recruiters, they'll say anything to get you in or at least to apply.
Most likely they will say that you will have to take it (hopefully they wont) and that it lasts only two month. Don't believe it, no one ever finishes it in two month and it take about one and a half semesters to do it (that will be around $7000 just for that course).
