PT Boat Radar
« on: April 24, 2011, 06:46:30 PM »
Why doesn't the radar work on our PT boats?

Depending on which source you believe PT boat radar was able to locate surface fleets somewhere between 17 and 25 nautical miles (19-28 miles) away.  That's a lot further than I can spot a fleet by eye from a PT boat.  I cant's even see one half a sector away.

Not sure what the implementation was but it would be cool to have a little radar screen with a blip when an object was located on the surface.

BTW, this wasn't just a question.  It was a wish for working PT boat radar.

I noticed that the PT boat has a mast with what appears to be a radar antenna on it.......

Wish it worked.

I asked for this years ago.  Guess the answer was no. Or at least, not now.

I do agree with you though. Would be a nice feature.

Agreed. The tower is there, it might be hard to code it but it should be like a CV only maybe a smaller coverage area.  (instead of 25 miles)
