USB Mic Oddity
« on: April 04, 2011, 01:32:39 PM »
So I recently bought a USB headset/mic.  Set it up in AH so that game sounds and environment came out of my computer speakers, and voice communications came through the headset.  Everything was working well until my graceful self pulled the headset out of the USB port (while AH was running) when I got out of my chair once.  Since then, no matter how much fiddling I do, I can't get the voice to come through the headset again.  The microphone still works fine, but setting voice to come through my headset still results in them coming through my computer speakers.  I tried a .resetv and it crashed AH, not sure if I need to try that again.

I've got it set up similar in FSX (game sounds in computer, voice through headset) and it's still functioning fine.

Any Ideas?  Thanks.

Exit out of Aces high and make sure everything works in windows.  Also make sure the computer speakers are set as the "deafult" audio device.

Load Aces high and go in and set EVERYTHING to use the USB headset.  Hit OK or whatever and close the audio properties page.

Now go back in and change everything to the Computer speakers.  Again, hit OK and close the audio properties page.

Quit Aces High.

Reload Aces High and this time set the voice for the USB headset and you should be good to go.

I've yanked my USB set before too in game and it's a matter of just switching the settings back and forth until they work.  It's like Aces High gets confused about it all when that happens.

So I never did thank you for the answer, I hadn't been flying much and hadn't gotten a chance to mess around with it until recently.

Anyway, thanks!  :salute

p.s.  It started working randomly before I played with it too much.
