Key Modifiers and Joystick Buttons
« on: April 26, 2011, 05:01:18 PM »
Currently are they fully supported by the game?  If so then it may be an issue on my end with getting them to work (I use a logitec X3d pro).

If not, I would like to see key modifiers being able to be fully used in comination with joystick buttons.  This will double, tripple, and possibley quadruple the functions we can assign to our joystick buttons for each seperate control mode.  I would love to have the same button assigned currently for my landing gear to also be assigned my carreir landing hook if I hold down the Shift modifier.

If you mean can you set a button to the look up view, so that you can use it as a modifier for the hat switch, yes it works.

Also you might want to look into changing "modes" or stick sets in AH to give you that expanded functionality.

The difference is thus.

Setup A
Uses button set to look up + hat switch for up views.

Setup B uses button set to switch to mode 2 + hat switch in mode 2 set for up views. In mode 2 the same button is set to switch to mode 1, so pushing it again puts you back down to flat views.

Setup B has the advantage in that the same key or button can be setup for multiple functions.
Example jstick button 4 in mode 1 is drop flaps, in mode 2 is raise flaps.

Trigger in mode 1 is primary guns only, in mode 2 is all guns (or vice versa)

You can not currently do what you are asking for, but I think I like the idea. I'll have to take a look how much work it is to implement.

I use the key 'modifiers' on my joystick, but I obviously have to program it through the stick's software, the problem is that this can often only be done by emulating keystrokes and once in a rare while causes issues.  I would much rather be able to do this natively.

In my case, I use my pinky trigger as a modifier, or shift button.  I have a button on my throttle programmed to look up, so that in conjunction with my hat views lets me look around and up.  I also have the 'up' button change to 'down' when using the modifer.. so it I hold down my pinkie trigger while doing the same actions, I look downward instead of upward.

That's just one example out of many but I'm sure you get the idea.
