Nailed a T-34 from 3k earlier this evening with a T-34-85.  I dont see the problem.

Actually, I would have to agree there is something wrong with the M3 halftrack with the 75mm howitzer.  I get the impression that the "frosted glass" texture was applied twice to that gunsight for some reason.  It doesn't look right to me.

The rest of it is fine.  That is how those tanks actually worked.

I still think there needs to be other changes, but not to the tanks themselves.  They seem pretty good now.  I like the idea of a virtual battlefield, but we're not there yet.  The ground game is still a side show.

I like it in general but think there is a mistake with the Firefly and perhaps the Tiger and Panther. It seemed to me the commander of these 3 does not have as good a binoclulars as the the other tank commanders. These 3 tanks have significantly better sights which is not strange given they have the best guns but I wouldn't have thought they would be given inferior binnoculars as a consequence.

I am all for the maximum playable reality in these things  :aok

What may be confusing is the size of the virtual reticle - that is indeed differing, but the magnification levels are the same.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes and thanks  :o

So de acking is harder and shooting planes on the runway you need to be nearer but air kills with the main gun are allot easier  :aok

The high Perk tanks are earning their perks more now and are able to aim further out where their guns have the distinct advantage.

I would like the tank to be able to be driven from pedals and twissty stick like last time. I saw in some tank TV programme T34 commanders given the poor or lack of soviet intercoms used their feet to communicate with the driver  :lol

ive been trying to work out what going on with that too, some sights fill the screen, others are really quite small. :headscratch:

M3/75

M4/75

M4/76

edit: hmmm I misunderstood the reticule size comment, I now understand that you meant the reticule displayed in commander's position. does it match the FOV of the gunsight view?

still dont understand the screenies above though :headscratch:

Just so we understand each other, I posted this with the name "Stupid tank optics..." as a lark.

I actually enjoy the new system.

Now it looks as if we could have a good discussion here regarding their usefulness.

 :salute Have a great day!

Yes. The size of the white circle does exactly match the gunsight's FOV at highest magnification.

that explains the FOV in the virtual image, but not the size of the virtual image ...

eg. take an SLR with zoom lens, when you zoom, the FOV (magnification) changes, the size of the virtual image doesnt.
