That's all in fun and no doubt the suspect deserved it. The only problem is that anyone including a marine could be sued and forced to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to the suspect.
I know of a bouncer who roughed up a snot nosed kid outside of bar and had to pay over $300,000 to the kid in installments.
Yep, a bouncer cannot touch you outside the the premises.  Not that he has any right to rough you inside unless you attack him but they seem to get away with it.  I was a witness when  bouncer attacked my boss for talking to to a girl that turned out to be the bouncers X.  After he took him outside he proceeded to attack him.  Big mistake.  The guy ended up getting 2 years.
In your case, it seems that the kid was a "snotty nosed kid" and therefore the laws don't apply to him?  Funny how laws don;t apply when we know the offenders.  Your body should have known the laws and got what he deserved.
