Review/remove unhistorical loadouts
« on: May 04, 2011, 01:45:59 PM »
The request here is to modify existing options that are inaccurate. This is not the simple addition of NEW options, this is editing/auditing of existing options only. This does not preclude new additions later or any future options.

Hitech has said he's not going to limit combinations that might be unhistorical, such as rockets and bombs on a P-51, but HTC in general has a policy of historically accurate loadouts. They don't put fantasy loadouts in place just for kicks and grins.

I wish the following were reviewed or (if applicable) removed from the game because they are not historically correct:

- Remove all P-47 loadouts with 425rpg. Regardless if a 300rpg is added for the D11 or not in the future, the 425 option must go. Totally unhistorical, never used.

- Increase Fw190A5 outboard MG/FF ammo increased from 60rpg to 90rpg. The 90rd drum was MADE for the Fw190 and in service in 1943. Test charts that spell out loadouts and ammo counts clearly show this to be the main loadout.

- Remove Ar234 rear guns. Another thread has pretty conclusively determined they never had them.*

There may be more but these are the ones I know of, and the ones that get on my nerves the more I see them.

what would you have as the loadouts for the different model jugs? they were used with very different numbers of guns and rpgs by different FGs, and even between FSs within them. you could fill up the available slots twice with the historical loadouts ive read about, and I havent read a bunch about them ...

edit: btw I always take the lighter load having read discusssions on this before, except rarely if I know I'm going to have to strafe lots. *shakes fist at Krusty yet again* ;)

Homles, that's a matter for another thread, but there were NOT that many variations. The war was won with 267 rpg. Very few exceptions (mostly earlier planes) got up to 300 rpg, but again mostly rare.

The variation comes in LESS ammo, LESS guns... these field mods are found especially in the pacific where heavy jabo planes had to take off and clear trees, so they shaved every pound they could, dropping down to only 2 guns and 200rpg in some cases.

So the standards should only be: 6 guns 267 rpg or 8 guns 267 rpg. These are already in game and I have not wished for their removal.

Mind you there are a couple other possible loadouts that would be new additions, I'm just wanting to remove this horribly inaccurate 425rpg setup option.

I had a look around after the last discussion about it and couldnt find reports of two loadouts the same, its almost like every squad had different loadouts. sure, no one was apparently flying around with the 500rpg the N manual mentions, but it doesnt seem there was a "standard" loadout at all.

I'm not objecting to removing the 425rpg, just interested in what you've found.
