in game using the zoom function they do look a lot like this (Image removed from quote.) from 3000 feet.

gyrene but that's only good when you already know his location.  try looking for a tank zoomed in see if you cant find it.

Really? I've heard this before. A camoflaged tank in trees and grass and terrain was easier to spot in real life, with haze, cloudy weather, non-optimal Lighting, and dirty wind screens?

These theoretical resolution discussions have some merit on planes at long distances, but I've seen no good proof tanks are so much harder to spot in game that an icon is needed to find them.

I think this argument is overplaid.  :salute

you can easily see a car from 10k feet in real life.  you cant see it in the game.

Perhaps it is overplaid by most, but I'm speaking from personal experience.

if it's not in a heavy stand of trees or a barn it's easy to spot from as high as 6000 feet...might depend on a persons graphics settings but i can usually spot the dots of gv's out in the open from that altitude.

paint it olive drab and stick it next to the hedgerow in your neighbor's yard...then try to spot it on an overcast day from 10k up...a tank is obviously bigger than a car but, it wouldn't be painted candy apple red either.

You can do that if there is no overcast, but there is no overcast in AH so that does not count. Sure it wont be as easy as spotting something on the highway but if your specifically looking it can be done.

you would only be able to spot it from the glare on the glass or chrome...tanks don't have glass or chrome...not normally anyway.

i can't hit the silly things with bombs anyway so for me spotting them is just a hobby...zoom zoom

I know it could be used to "game the game" but I'd like to see how it'd work out if GV icons were only shown if the GV's engine was running.

Just a thought.

Come on Mach and Semp, I've looked out hte window of a plane as well. Be honest, a car is brightly painted shiny object on the gray road. Can you spot a green John Deere tractor in corn field, or parked in a meadow?  :salute

If I jump a jeep off a cliff within an enemy dar ring, will it generate a dot once it is 65 feet from the ground?

GVs are quite easy to see without icons, the vehicle stands out quite well agaist the terrain.

Turn off you icons and see for yourself.

Removing icons would bennefit the GV fighting +1

GV icons do not impact the fight overhead at all  :aok

Add some sort of colored marker rocket for GVs and planes so as these can be used to mark an enemy position for Jabo I.D.  the color could be country specific!

If you specifically look for it you should be able to spot it (depending on your vision), the thing is that pilot don't spend much time looking at what kind of car is driving 10K under them.
