I am unaware of any airplane (real ones anyway) that were chromed. The shinny surface you see is just polished aluminum. Not sure when Boeing stopped painting their bombers and delivered them with just the bare aluminum surface. It saved weight and by the end of the war, we had so many of them there was no need to camouflage them.

Found on the web:

Quote
"The discontinuation of camouflage on the B-29 corresponded with the
December, 1943 USAAF directive discontinuing camouflage on most combat
aircraft.

Not painting the aircraft saved several hundred pounds of weight,
reduced drag a tad, eliminated the cost of the paint, and skipping the
paint shop speeded up the production and delivery of aircraft. The USAAF
determined that these advantages more than offset any disadvantages of
foregoing the camouflage.
Camouflage has its primary benefits for aircraft parked on the ground
and by December of 1943, few if any US bases were under any serious
threat of aerial attack - For those which were, camouflage could be
applied as a field expedient by the ground crews of the squadrons involved. "

Wrong

That's a referbished zeke. Probably a after war paint job.you are right :bhead
Wrong again.

They were not chrome and they were not white but you continue to make blind statements.
Do yourself a favor and do some searches or purchase some books on Japanese Naval aircraft colors.

See the band on the fuselage? That's white. See the propellers? That's chrome..

Don't think any WWII birds shone like you are thinking.  The extremely shiny "chrome" look of some restored aircraft is a modern thing.  I don't think you want your fighter to reflect like that as it makes you too easy to spot.

wasnt the intention to reflect the surrounding scenery to blend in? That was the intention with the migs anyways
