Non-standard missions?
« on: May 13, 2011, 12:40:55 PM »
Some song said........."if you're bored...then you're boring".

There are so many things in aces high that can be very fun.

Here are two of the many unusual mission I fly with varying degrees of success.

They can also be done by yourself if you can't find a buddy willing to "fly some crazy mission".

1.    Fly a good turning fighter with a drop tank that still has some high altitude performance to the enemy strats or HQ by setting autoclimb and get something else done for a little while.

Once at strats flying 30,000+ feet (40,000+ feet in ta152), either stay slow or avoid the dar circles and get up to speed.

Wait for the ME163 or pair of them to up after your "bomber"

When you see the dar bar signifying an enemy has upped, head away from his base quickly to cause him to burn his precious fuel.......but not too fast that he quickly gives up.

Again......stay out of the dar circles so he can't see your speed or precise location.

Once he is visible.....fly directly away as far as you can to compound his fuel issues but he will likely get at least one pass on you.

When you see him break off, chase him down before he can make his field or ditch.

But there's more......bagging the 163 is just the beginning as most will be really angry you killed his highly perked ride and either send up another or come up after you in fast fighter to ensure you don't make it home with the kill.

Getting home is much harder (and exciting sometimes) than bagging the 163 as my last mission requred me to land quickly fly "the wrong way" deeper into enemy territory while still on dar before going NOE, turning around and putting distance between myself and the guy looking for the revenge kill.

I actually had to land and taxi between a barn and some trees until the second 163 ran out of fuel.............whereupon I chased him and almost got killed by ack as he succesfully landed......only to send up a spit 16 after me.

So I landed again and waited him out before flying home.

I've done this in ta152, c202, a6m5, and a6m3 and will go eventually garner a kill of a 163 in every non-uber plane in the planeset.

2.   Fly a good low alt. fighter NOE (with drop tanks again) to the strats or a V field and land keeping enemy spawn points on opposite side of field and taxi up to start the town or field flashing.

Wait for bomber or IL2 who is looking forward to an easy tank kill.

Take off when he shows up and shoot him down.

I understand many here don't have enough patience to fly more than one sector or climb higher than 5k feet but the rewards are there for those intrepid souls who invest the time...............or plot a good course and use autoclimb....or maybe set auto to fly at 45 feet noe to your destination over the water.

Both of these can be done with very little time investment because you can leave the keyboard and pull and engine, mow the lawn, punch the clown.....etc.

here's a  more.

take a c47 into any base drop troops over the ack then count to 10 dive in and see if you can outlive the last troop.

deack a vh field.  then bring a jeep and try to go thru every single vh.  camp the main one and use your mg to ping the upper then run away and hide somewhere where you can see the tanks looking all over the place for you.

deack a vh field, then auger and hide in the indestructible behind a truck.  then laugh and point every time a tank passes by looking around for other "gv's" that are making the base blink.

semp

you dont want me to ho, dont point your plane at me.

I think you mean "bail" instead of auger... and that doesn't work either. Bailed pilots do not make bases blink.  ;)
