When GVing what's the best position to have the Graphic Detail sliders (Object detail/Ground Detail Range)?  Thanks.

I usually just press SHIFT+F4 to quickly turn on Ground Detail Range. When I'm about to fly again I press SHIFT+F1 for Full Vis Range.

What effect does this have on the display. The other day, I got shot at by a GV through a bush/tree thingy. I saw the shell coming through it and the hit landed very accurately. I, on the other hand, wasn't able to sight him through all the tropical trees and stuffs. Is there a way to reduce that vegetation?
