I'm always nervous sending a package through USPS, if I do, I usually do Priority.  That is only if it's significantly cheaper than UPS, UPS has always impressed me with their efficiency and up-to-date tracking.

In 17 years in business, I live by one rule of thumb when it comes to time sensitive documents and the USPS.... Never trust them, not even priority service. The chances of the package being lost, late, or damaged increases directly with the importance of the package.

I've lived at my current address right at 9 years now and I cannot count the number of times I have gotten my neighbors' mail. Heck, that's how I met most of them, hand delivering what was delivered mistakenly to me.

Same thing. Out entire street has gotten at least one of each others mail every few weeks.

Anyone familiar with JFK? Could it be that JAMAICA, NY 11430 is JFK's post office and the last stop before getting on a plane or the airports goods facilities? Maybe they have handed it over to someone else at JFK and tracking that number at Stamps.com is useless until it arrives here?

I find USPS tracking numbers to be worthless, it usually says something like "sender information received" even after the package is delivered.

USPS vs UPS is basically Communism vs Capitalism.  UPS guys wear shorts and run from trucks that have no doors.  Ever seen a USPS worker run?

Rough guess by looking at transit times it could take 2 weeks to get to Norway. That is unless its tied up in customs or some odd thing JFK or the postal service does

UPS updates the status of your mail more often than USPS.  I wouldn't be surprised if you get your USPS parcel before it's updated as on arrival to you.

Edit

Or like Meatwad said.  Customs thought it was a bomb, so they dunked it in water and then blew it up.
