Chuck and Elvis, yup.

As much as I love Chuck Berry, I would say "rock n roll" started about twenty years before with this man and many others like him of his time.

I would watch and listen to the words said here first b-4 you credit Chuck Berry for Rock & Roll exclusively, it was a combination of many talented musicians who took Blues and turned it into rock and roll...
Carl Perkins wrote Blue Suede Shoes ... but Elvis is remembered for it.... there are a lot of artists who could get credit, but I think they would all agree that they each learned a little thing different from each other and that combination created rock and roll.

Yes, I admit it started maybe in the 19teens or 20's.  A lot of that great music is lost forever.  Thank God, we had Guys like Berry and Perkins to remember it.  Berry and Perkins pioneered the music as we know it today.

You're right, that song did sound quite a bit like blues.
