Opening up to mods could likely cause this sim to be stolen, placed on the net for free, and played largely by griefers, hackers, and bug exploiters.

I gladly pay here to support and enjoy a sim that is not hacked apart and policed to keep the bad elements out.

I'm cool the modding that is available now.
hmm yes, its a bad idea, nvm.

Single player game + mods = great, extends the look and life of the game, keeps you interested, keeps things fun.
Example Fallout3 or Fallout NV, I've tried thousands of mods.

Multiplayer game + mods = bad bad news. Ruins the game for others, opens game up for hacking. Bad idea.

I'm not in favor of mods either.

Who says that modding detracts from realism?  Look at TwinTail's example, Project Reality has turned Battlefield 2 and Arma 2 into quite realistic shooters.  Who says the same can't be done for AH2?

Just to be clear, I am not advising that these mods would come into play in the online version- that is HTC's domain.

Good point, Penguin; didn't think of that one. But I'm glad we agree that modding for the online version is bad  :salute
No, no, no. That molecule is caffeine.

Epic fail.  Modding isn't hacking, but modding can lead to hacking if mismanaged.  It's like salt, in moderation it's tasty, but using it inappropriately will spoil the dish.

We (the player base) are already highly involved in the production of this game (wishlist, sounds, sights, skins, terrains, events, the list goes on) Modding just allows hacking to come in through the front door. Last time there was a hacking spree, we lost the player hosted arenas that even free players could use. Still miss those...
