I put in the work to host the tournament.  I have that right.

I've been playing for almost 16 years.  I've taken breaks (without giving up my subscription) but somehow never felt the need to post about it.

Here's an idea. If you don't like the thread, don't post in it.

I do miss the old days when the game was about air combat.  I never recalled having to try to defend against 50 planes swarming a VH base!  I'll be back someday. I just need a long break from this game.

What game have you been playing?   It's been like this ever sense I can remember. In fact as far as I know most of the bases I've seen taken over the years have been by pure force of #'s and if you don't do it that way then it's guys trying to sneak one. All in all I would say the main problem is that any time you get a large group of guys with some organization in this game they get squeaked at or about. Everyone is happy as long as it's just a large gaggle of guys flying to a base in a conga line  (some times not even then) and having a spat but once they get organized then there is a problem.

I can understand this, I feel people fly more together these days in larger squads, and inevitable it can lead to overkill if more than one (or sometimes just one) shows up at a fight/field

Have to disagree on this. At least the "I feel people fly more together these days in larger squads" part. If anything squads have gotten much smaller in the last couple years. There are not near the squads with multiple wings as far as I can tell as when I first started playing. I for one was a long time Bird Of Prey back when they had what, 4 or 5 wings and I seem to remember many large squads like that that have shrunk drastically or totally dispersed all together.

Just making a couple observations here nothing more. :)

Indeed. Back in 2001 after the demise of Air Warrior, many of large uber squads migrated to AH...including the AK's, MAW's and The Damned, which numbered 70+ players divided into 3 flight wings. The horde is nothing new. Perhaps the rosey concept of pure air combat existed in the very early beta days but in the 10 years I've been around it's been horde vs horde.

Organization as in:

We need 10 sets of LANCs, 5 goons and the rest of you in heavy fighters.  3 of you run up ahead and kill radar so they know for sure that we are coming.  V5 will fall!!!!  The sad part is that sometimes these missions do fail because of a single LA7 showing up and killing the goons  :rofl

The game, at present, has been pretty much this way for most of a decade. Lotsa folks don't come to that conclusion until they've been here long enough to grow tired of flying with 40 plane whords capturing v-bases over and over, and  actually try to advance their skills. You can always find something interesting if you pick around the edges-only fly certain types of missions, only fly older planes, etc. I'm loving the new gv setup (now that my pedals can be used) Spend almost as much time in tanks as I do in jug
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

ive known heretic for many years, we were on the same  squad way back in the day.  Ive been on longer that he has and I agree with what he is saying.  The game has changed, not saying there is anything wrong with that just have to learn to adapt is all.  It is very frustrating at times.  I quit the game for about a year when switched to AH2 for the simple fact it was so different and I didnt want to bother learning it over again.  Ive been on and off ever since so I can totally see where he is coming from.  Im sure he will come back some day and play again, we all do at some point.  Cut the guy a little slack, he is one of the better players at the game and deserves a little respect.  His intentions were not to whine just to let the ones that cared to know he was done.

I never said fancy or extremely skilled organization did I?        In AH just getting a large group together all doing the same thing at the same time constitutes organization most of the time lol.  AND that is what I see people complain about most of the time. :)

I too think the Hordes are ruining some fun in the game. Honestly, I'm going to pull out & go to another fight as soon as a horde arrives. Ooooo Base takers by Horde, you're so cool! NOT!!  :huh It's gotta be a good fight to be a GOOD Fight! Usually the skill of many of these Horders is lacking at best, humorous at worst. That's why they wanna be in a horde, So they can cheer "We Won!!" even if they get killed in the first 5 minutes of the Horde-Fest.  :furious  :bhead
