A-31 Vengeance

The A-31 Vengeance had an air-cooled radial Wright Double Row Cyclone GR-2600-A5B-5 engine that gave 1,600 hp engine. The plane carried 1,500 lbs in an internal bomb bay and external rack.They saw battle in the Second Arakan Campaign. They had 4 .30 cals in the front and 1 .30 in the back. The top speed was 275 mph and cruised at 235 mph. The range was 1,400 mi.The wingspan is 48 ft. It weighed 9,725 lbs empty.

The A-31 has a little more bomb capacity than the SBD and is faster. Plus, it is a divebomber like the SBD.

How would you feel about the D4Y 'Judy'?  Not as much payload, but over 340mph and widely used by the Japanese navy, including off of carriers.  Over 2,000 were built.

LOL please read a bit of history.  They dumped the Vengeance as fast as they could.  The poor Aussies and a few Brits were forced to take them into combat.  They came out of combat in a hurry too and were relegated to training or 'hacks'
